I have received my first Soom Doll, Shoshon, and I am so happy. One foot isn't like the other and I have seen complaints about this, but I don't mind - he is definitely hand made. His face up is just as good as the picture and even so, he has his own personality, different from the photos. The clothing is very high quality. I never did receive a picture of his hocks, but I like them much more than the Chalco? Shoshon is more anatomically correct and less fantasy. (though he is ultra-fantasy). Thank you to all the artists involved! I have just put his eyes in and am astounded!

This boy can be a moose or an Irish Elk or whatever. Keep in mind the Shoshone (with an "e") are an American Indian Tribe and there were no Irish Elk on the American continent. Also the next doll, the Thunder Bird - looks like an American Indian theme as well. The horns on this boy are actually smaller in proportion that an actual moose with that many prongs. The Irish Elk Idea is very romantic, however, and no one should tell anyone else where their hearts & imagination should roam. Don't worry about being "wrong." - Maybe I'll shock everyone and make Ender my Coyote. PS A lady moose was eating a crabapple tree on Saturday with her calf and I took the moment to examine her hooves. The interesting thing about moose, (a small boy pointed out to me), is that they are voids in the dark - you have to look for the shadow in the shape of a moose. Quite amazing. Magic.

Leg construction
I have moose in my yard at least once a year. For me, he is a moose. A young bull moose.
I would like to order this - however, how are his legs constructed? I have read commentary on the internet regarding leg construction and the mass of the body, they think the legs will break because here isn't enough mass in the legs to be reinforced by metal? What is your comment about this? I like the 2-jointed legs in Amber - they seem "anatomically correct," though the task of creating hoofed legs for a human is difficult for the artist. I've seen others who do not like this so I thought I would add my opinion.
Can Shoshon sit like a person in a chair? What do the back of his hocks look like ? How long and thick are his upper legs. Thank you.

Irish Elk
I was a little disappointed with this guy at first. The hooves just seemed so wrong, BUT then I realised what somebody else said, he's clearly an Irish Elk therefore it all fits.
The overlarge antlers, the majesty of an extinct creature of folklore, the long skinny legs combined with the noble, beautiful face and the large hulking body... Look it up, I took one look at one of my favourite extinct animals and knew that's what he was. It all fits so perfectly and he definitely reminds me of an Irish Elk.
Despite my initial reservations, Soom he is GORGEOUS! I love him, his face and body especially. I'm still wary on the hooves, but if I had the money I would have to get him just because he's clearly an Irish Elk. Fantastic job as always! <3

I think he's not a moose, but an Irish Elk - an extinct species of cervidae which is neither irish nor an actual elk. Nevertheless, he's GORGEOUS, and I have to say I'm relieved he's a Mega Gem because that means he's TOO big for me, my wallet is safe. I will have to admire him from afar. Not a fan of the Skinny-legged Hooves
Really not a fan of the strange skinny-legged hooves ...to pull off those lovely biiig hooves you'd need good solid legs to match...not skinny little chicken legs. However, I'd more than happily settle for the bronze human version with those amazing elk horns...wow! Loving the wig and what looks close to Nephelin's style of eyes too....argh, must..find...money...for...fullset...minus...hooves!

I love Shoshon's face, it is breathtakingly beautiful, but it looks very out of place on the thick, wide MegaGem neck. :( If he was SuperGem I would have bought him in a heartbeat, but MegaGem is the wrong body for such an elegant boy.

SOOM, seriously, I'm SO disappointed right now.
What the hell did you do to his legs? I mean, I don't need to be a genius to stare his absolutely strange knees and see something's weird around there... I don't know if it's the whrong shape or the wrong place or the wrong size. But it's obviously wrong.
And he's such an amazing boy, I was so happy with him, his antlers are gorgeous! ... Such a pitty these hooves are like this... I mean, the " Hoove" shape is actually cool... his legs (knees) are the problem there... I'm sure lots of people will have him anf love him... without the special legs though.
