I am so sad that he is already sold out! This is one of the only two dolls that I ever wanted this bad. Please make more of this sculpt. He is beautiful from the eyes to the nose, and especially the lips. I couldn't find any doll that even comes close to him. I will buy him as soon as a sculpt is available.

My two cents
I think it's a very nice face, actually, but it would look a lot better on a female body. It doesn't help that it reminds me a lot of Emma Watson...
As for the doll looking boring and normal - I tend to agree, but it's not the fault of the sculptor at all: try to imagine him (or better, her) with accessories, jewellery and a better face-up and tell me that she would not look great. Especially looking at the 4th photo from the top, I can imagine her with long, wavy hair.
The expression is really kind and endearing, and the face-up is good too; it just needs to be enhanced better with an interesting character design and interesting clothes. As it is, it's too different from what we see on this site on a regular basis (and what most of the users expect) and it stands out in a negative way not because of poor craftsmanship, but because of a poorer than usual presentation.

Beautiful Boy
Wow i would buy him, if he was just a head sculpt. I just brought a Namu head, so i can't afford a full doll now. He reminds me off Mihael from Leekeworld. I love my Mihael from leekeworld, so maybe in the future i will get him, to be the brother of my doll.
I am glad he is different. I am not crazy on horns and hoofs for dolls. I think he is unique. I especially love his lips, is it me or do you Soom, do the best lips for sculpts. It's like my future Saiph boy doll, wonderful lips. (still paying for him).
Beautiful eyes and mouth. Well done.
I hope this artist continue to make more sculpts and ignore people complaining it is not like the other Soom dolls.
Change is always a good thing, and if you don't like him then don't buy him.
To call him boring, please. He is anything but boring.

Must Have
First off, give this artist some applause. Covell is simply STUNNING and that deserves recognition.
Second, if you're giving us one Young Artists doll, I hope you'll give us more from this person, or the other students. I, and many others, would love to see what they've come up with.
I already know this guy is on my Christmas list, and my birthday list (seeing as they're so close together anyways...) and if that fails, I'm spending all the money I get from them and babysitting in order to bring him home.
While I didn't have a character for him in the beginning, I've been staring at him since he came out in June and one has formed in my mind because of how much I desire him.
This boy shall fit right in with my Chrom Fire Lord and my Syen.

Exactly a gimmick. A bunch of generic face dolls with hooves or what not. Very few SG face molds look good. The tinies are a waste, the same generic face. Ha! One day, fanatical people over DOA will realise this!

Not rude, just silly. Soom style is always to take generical pretty face and put fantasy body on them for gimmick. At least this doll is not gimmick but still boring.
When Soom make doll with original style in face instead of fantasy body, maybe I will be more interested.

I love him. He's really cute and more the type of doll I go for :3 I'm very interested to see more of this artist's work.
I've held my tounge for a while now and I just I can't believe how unbelieveably rude people are constantly being. If they had bothered to read or pay attention, this is a different artist. It's their style. Deal with it. People please be mature, if you don't like it, move on. No need to attack the artist.
Personally I'm happy to see another style. Variety is always good in any company.

I think what Soom's doing releasing a sculpt created by one of their young, student artists is great. It's an amazing opportunity for that artist, and for us to see the work of people who might one day work as regular sculptors for Soom.
I can't actually believe people are being so ignorant as to whine and complain about this. And asking "Who sculpted this? It's so boring. Waaah" Do you realize you're not only being rude to the company but to an individual student who probably worked incredibly hard on this sculpt and was probably very proud Soom chose it for sale?

I just wanted to add one more comment referring to the comments below. While some people have been rude, and those complaining of the rude people are trying to protect SOOM... It's still really important that SOOM hear all opinions, even very rude ones! They have a business to run, so all opinions need to be considered when determining their next step.
Though, I must add since I haven't really noticed it before, but his lips are amazing!
I have been looking at him more lately, and I think the Crobidoll "resemblence" is mostly in the colors used in the faceup.

In all honesty, when I see people complain or whine that this doll looks like a doll from Luts/Crobi doll or think its dissappointing, I just sit here and think to myself, "These people don't deserve a MANLY doll like they claim." Like seriously. SOOM doesn't revolve around YOU, and pretty much he DOES have a SOOM 'scent'. I guess you're just not used to him just cause he's NORMAL, like what you dislike. Seriously >_>
Anyways all I can say is, Good job SOOM! You've done it again >:D .....I want him now, dang.

Wow, I'm really impressed by him. He's a very beautiful doll. I wish he wasn't limited because I'd love to bring him home, but I don't have the funds right now. ^^* I actually just put an Aphan on layaway. . .
And on top of him being a wonderful sculpt, I think it's great that your spotlighting your students' work. It must be an exciting and amazing opportunity for them. ^^ It's a brilliant idea!
I find it kinda sad though that you've spoiled some people so much with amazing fantasy parts that they can't appreciate a beautiful sculpt on a 'normal' body. It's a little embarrassing that some people in the doll community think that their opinions weigh so heavily on your work. Comments of 'he's so boring!' are really disappointing to see. Negative opinions should be kept to a minimum because just because you don't like him doesn't mean other people want to hear about it. And I think that some people should really be ashamed of themselves for belittling an upcoming, aspiring, and new artist's work.
Anyway, he's amazing! And keep doing what you do Soom! You're one of the top doll companies for a reason, and I'll support you to the end! ^^

Wow, I really love him, he's one of my favorite Soom boys so far! Though I really wish he had a slightly smaller and more poseable body. His youthful face would look great on a less bulky body.

Soom, you can't please everyone all the time so just ignore the rude members whining about this boy not being exactly what they expect from you. I love that you're always trying new things and being innovative and I really like this sculpt. Admittedly I won't be buying him, as I'm not one for the larger dolls, but you've done a good job breaking out of your usual style.
To all the complainants: A LOT of time and effort goes into making these dolls and it's unreasonable to demand that a company only ever makes something that appeals to you personally. This doll appeals to a lot of people, and if you don't like it then no-one is forcing you to buy him but it's extremely rude to start saying such unpleasant things to a company that has always gone out of its way to be creative for us the comsumers. As my mother always said - If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. ;)

When I first saw this one, I also thought he was a Luts sculpt. I was startled by how much he looks like a luts doll and how little he looks like Soom.
Soom, please stick to your more mature style. Dia, Spinel, Lazule and the rest of your Super Gems are so beautiful and unique. Please don't use such generic faces in your future sculpts.

I like him quite a bit, I do see this sculpt easily being swayed Male or female. The aesthetic is a bit different from your normal SOOM... It's has an essence that I tend to see from Crobidoll or LUTS in his over all look.
Even though some people are calling him "boring and normal" I think it's a nice look .
